OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

Message from Karen Schauer, Ed.D

GJUESD Superintendent

Welcome to the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District! Our district is truly a special place for children to learn, thrive, and contribute.

Our employees are committed to working and learning together to optimize student learning. We do so by 1.) growing as a professional learning community, 2.) developing healthy, caring and engaged youth and 3.) maximizing partnerships and resources.

Our Student Learning Framework is organized by three critical focus questions for individual reflection, collective inquiry, and strategic actions:

  1. What do we want students to learn and be able to do?
  2. How do we know if they learned it?
  3. What are we going to do about it if they don't learn it or are proficient?

The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District offers powerful learning and enrichment

opportunities including:

  • K-3 Class Size Reduction.
  • Teacher Leadership through yearly selection of Academic Coaches.
  • Elementary and middle school band and choir programs.
  • San Joaquin Delta Community College Coursework leading to an Early Childhood Education Degree.
  • Service learning at the McFarland Living History Ranch, Cosumnes River Preserve and all school locations.
  • Sly Park Environmental Science Camp for sixth grade students.
  • First 5 and State Preschool programs at the Fairsite School Readiness Center.
  • After School Education and Safety (ASES) Programs at Valley Oaks, Greer Elementary and McCaffrey Middle School with SOAR programs offered at Lake Canyon, Marengo Ranch and River Oaks.
  • Grant and donation funded GALEP horse-assisted learning program.

The community of Galt is a Great American Little Town and a wonderful place to raise a family. You are welcome to visit our school district to see our schools in action. We truly believe in working and learning together to build a bright future for all learners!
