Message from Karen Schauer, Ed.D

GJUESD Superintendent

The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District is committed to every student learning, sharing and growing to be college and career ready. Our school district is one of sixteen districts in the nation awarded a Race To The Top (RTTT) District grant to transform education. Our federal grant award is a multi-year award for $10 million dollars.

The GJUESD is one of Sacramento County's highest performing school systems. Our successful academic track record, district culture of teamwork and vision for the future positions our school system and community for this important work for all students.

The Bright Future for Galt Students initiative is a multi-year plan that builds upon the GJUESD Learning Framework and Galt Youth Master Plan. Our innovative effort is a teaching and learning shift from traditional student learning to personalized student learning, to better ensure individual learner growth.

During the next three years, our pre-kindergarten School Readiness Center, five elementary schools and one middle school will phase in new learning tools, supports and opportunities through the following significant changes:

1. Personalized Learning Plans: Individual students will have learning plans based on individual learner strengths, needs and interests

2. Increased technology access: By the fall, mobile computers called Chromebooks will be available in every K-8 classroom to support on-line learning based upon individual needs, new assessments and project-based service learning activities. Full-time and part-time virtual coursework will be provided as learning options.

3. Bright Future Learning Centers: The BFLCs support and extend personalized learning beginning with traditional library services and access to forty Chrome books and Wi-Fi. Throughout the school year, BFLCs are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The GJUESD is committed to every student's success in learning and life. The federal RTTT grant funds support implementation of the Common Core State Standards through new learning resources and training. Our dedicated staff, working together with caring parents and community, will make this all possible.

Building a bright future for Galt students- we can do it!!
