ELD Helps Marengo Rock!

"Two ______ are better than one."  Did you think _______ meant heads?  Think again!  We are talking about languages.

ELD is about learning English.  It stands for English Language Development.  The ELD program is offered to all students that speak another language and need a little boost in English.  About 120 students participate daily.  Students are grouped together by age and ability and learn together listening, speaking, reading and writing English.  Students receive at least 30 minutes of special instruction daily.  When students score high enough on the standardized tests and the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), they exit the program.

While our emphasis at Marengo Ranch is English, our students are also encouraged to maintain and develop their home language because two languages are better than one!
