We have no supervision on campus before 7:30 a.m.,
so please do not drop off children before then.
Remind children to cross in the crosswalks and to obey safety patrol team members.
Please remember to sign-in at the office when you visit your children
or help in the classrooms. It protects all our children.
Do you plan on going on a fieldtrip with your student’s class this year?
If so, don’t forget to fill out our Volunteer Sheet.
District policy requires that all volunteers must register with the school office.
The name of each volunteer is then checked against the “Megan’s Law” database under
the supervision of the Galt Police Department in the interest of the absolute safety
of all students. Make sure you have done this before your trip to avoid any problems.
Forms may be picked up in the school office and returned to your child’s teacher.
Your child’s safety is our top priority!
Please help keep them safe by observing the following:
All visitors must sign in at the office; keep emergency cards updated;
please follow our parking lot procedures and park in the designated areas.
Thank You! This will help our Lake Canyon students stay safe.
Dear Lake Canyon Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Judi Hayes and I am excited to be the next principal of Lake Canyon Elementary School.
Over the last few weeks, I have been spending a lot of time at Lake Canyon getting to know the building, the school’s community and bringing myself up to date on Lake Canyon’s school mission and goals, as well as starting to hear about what makes Lake Canyon such a unique and special place. Lake Canyon is a place where strong connections are made between the home and school and where all staff members are committed to developing the whole child.
I value both of these characteristics and am excited to help continue moving Lake Canyon along the path of excellence. For me, the first day of school, August 19th, can’t get here fast enough as I am really eager to get to know all of you and your child(ren).
Professionally, I have been a school principal for several years with a California public charter school where I founded a highly successful K-12 academy. Before that, during my years as a teacher, I spent a great deal of my time working on district committees, supporting new curriculum initiatives and student growth opportunities. Throughout my years in education, I have continued to stay current on best practices for kids and successful schools.
In my eyes, one of the most important aspects of my work as Lake Canyon’s principal is building solid relationships with students, families and teachers. It will be very important to me to be in the classrooms and on the playground getting to know your child(ren). In my past experience, I have found that kids really appreciate a genuinely invests in them and who is fair in decision making. These two things are extremely important to me.
In addition to building strong relationships with all of you, it will be particularly important to me to make sure that your child and you feel safe at school. If you ever have a concern about something or a question about a specific situation or procedure please does not hesitate to call or email me. Communication is paramount in a school. For this reason, I will always encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or me with questions.
I feel very lucky to be following Mrs. Souligny as the principal of Lake Canyon. She took a lot of pride in everything she did here and I can tell this by the conversations we have had and the many great programs that are already in place here. I will be in touch with Mrs. Souligny often so that we can make this a very smooth transition for students, teachers and families. Lake Canyon is a school that has many things to be proud of. I thank you in advance for welcoming me as a part of this great community!
